Australasian Journal on Ageing is Australia's specialist journal on ageing.

It is published quarterly by COTA National Seniors Policy Secretariat [formerly Council on the Ageing (Australia)]. Since 1981 it has informed professionals on ageing issues. It provides a balance of research papers, opinion articles, professional practice updates, innovations in aged care and book reviews.

In 1998 the title changed from Australian to Australasian Journal on Ageing to better reflect its role in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Journal covers social gerontology, home and community services, health services research, geriatric medicine and biology of ageing.

It is the official journal of

AJA Book Award

Winners

Australasian Journal on Ageing's Book Award Winner for 2002 was Cerebrovascular Disease and Dementia: Pathology, Neuropsychiatry and Management. Authors: Edmond Chiu, Lars Gustafson, David Ames, and Marshal F. Folstein. Published in London by Martin Dunitz.

The winner for 2000 was Who Should Care for the Elderly, by William T Liu and Hal Kendig. Published in Singapore by Singapore University Press/World Scientific Press in 2000. ISBN 9971-69-232-5.
Based on a seminar held in Singapore in 1996, the book is an edited volume of western and eastern perspectives on aged care, drawing on original research by a number of writers in Australia, Asia and the Pacific region.

Submissions are invited for 2003. A prize of $500 and a framed certificate will be awarded. Closing date is 1st June 2003.
