Also available from AusInfo for $20.00. Prepared jointly with the Cw Dept
of Health and Ageing's Office for Older Australians, the third edition
of Older Australia at a Glance provides insights into the diversity of
the older population of Australia at the beginning of the 21st century.
It updates and provides new material to this overview of the health, well-being
and social circumstances of older Australians, and their health and aged
care/welfare services. Information and statistics is included on demography,
families and caring, housing, income, retirement, voluntary activities,
older people's organisations, and expenditure trends. Sources of the data
used are given, and further reading suggested.

IYOP - International
Year of Older Persons 1999

was developed by the NSW Ageing and Disability Department, with assistance
from Families, Youth and Community Care Queensland, as a major initiative
for the International Year of Older Persons.

National Information
Centre on Retirement Investment (NICRI)

- A free, independent service providing information to assist people with
modest savings to make investments for retirement. Their retirement income
leaflets became available for downloading in .pdf format in March 2000.
They fall into three broad categories: general (eg deeming accounts, complaints
resolution, rollovers, superannuation); financial planning series; and

other selected lifestyle issues. They were prepared jointly by the Department
of Human Services and the South Australian Network for Research on Ageing

telephone-based service run from COTA (NSW) which offers information and
referrals on any issues relating to older people. The service can be contacted
free in NSW on 13 12 44. Highly recommended for practical, direct information.
